Dirksen Artifact Pop-Up Museum
Museum Hours: Saturday & Sunday 12-3pm
Visit the Pekin Park Pavilion to view Dirksen Center artifacts representing Dirksen’s upbringing in Pekin, as well as his role in passing the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Children’s Book Reading
Reading Times: Saturday, 3:30-4pm; Sunday, 12:45-1:15pm
Children’s readings will take place on the Pekin Park Pavillion porch. Children are invited to sit in the shade of the porch and listen to the first-ever reading of a new children’s book entitled Everett McKinley Dirksen: A Gardener, a Baker, a National Lawmaker, by Author Corrie Salmon. Original illustrations for the book commissioned by The Dirksen Center will be on display; and free treat and gift bags will be provided to each child who joins us.
